Kakitori by Ken Laux Kakitori 1.0 is a Windows utility to do JIS <=> shift-JIS conversions and display Japanese text. Whereas Win/V and Japanese Windows are based on shift-JIS, on the Internet typically JIS is used. This utility allows one to use English Eudora or other Windows apps in Win/V or JWin to read and write Japanese inet e-mail. Freeware, requires VBRUN300.DLL. Kakitori v. 2.3, with new functions for lookup of phrases in a selectable user-maintained word list and/or up to nine external dictionaries such as EDICT. Also converts EUC Japanese text.
